Supplier Agreement Management Cmmi

The purpose of Supplier Agreement Management (SAM) is to manage the acquisition of products from suppliers. Suppliers can take many forms depending on business requirements, including internal suppliers (i.e. suppliers who are in the same organization but are not outside the project), manufacturing capabilities and laboratories, as well as commercial suppliers. (See the definition of „supplier“ in the glossary.) This process area is usually not implemented to conclude agreements in which the workgroup customer is also a supplier. These situations are usually dealt with either by informal agreements with the customer or by specifying the goods supplied by the customer in the overall agreement that the working group has with the customer.
